Senior Nutrition Program Needs Your Support

The Mid-East Community Action Agency has been delivering nutritionally balanced meals to the isolated, frail, and elderly for over three decades in Roane and Loudon counties. But the skyrocketing cost of food, fuel, and stagnant budgets is placing these seniors in a perilous situation.

The Senior Nutrition program is trying to maintain current service levels.  Presently, seniors receive four hot and one shelf-stable meal per week.  More importantly than the nutrition received from these meals is the weekly “well-check” visits that are provided by delivery staff and volunteers Oftentimes, this is the only contact with the community these homebound individuals receive.  Senior attending congregate meal sites receive much needed socialization from contact with friends and staff members.

Your support is crucial.  Consider making a donation to the Senior Nutrition program. Any amount is not too small and is utilized to purchase much needed food for the program. Your church group or civic organization may discuss “adopting” a senior for a period of several months or a year. Senior Nutrition staff can discuss these options with you. All donations will remain confidential unless otherwise noted.

The time is now. Please help the Senior Nutrition program continue to provide hot, nutritionally balanced meals and a connection to the community to those in need.

Donations to the Senior Nutrition Program can be mailed to MECAA, P.O. Box 790, Kingston, TN  37763.  Please note “Senior Nutrition” in the memo line.

Mid-East Community Action Agency joins Meals on Wheels America and Subaru in Sharing the Love this Holiday Season

Subaru Share the Love Event ® helps deliver nutritious meals and compassion to our Seniors

Mid-East Community Action Agency is proud to announce that it will be participating in the annual Subaru Share the Love Event as a member of Meals on Wheels America – one of four national Share the Love charitable partners for the ninth year running. Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer's choice of participating charity.

"It is a true testament to the value of Meals on Wheels and the strength of our nationwide network that Subaru of America and its customers choose to give back to this vital service year after year," said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels America. "Since its inception, Share the Love has helped deliver more than 1.4 million meals to seniors served by Meals on Wheels. It is our hope that this year’s event ensures that even more seniors receive the nourishment they need to continue living independently at home."

This year, for the first time throughout the life of the program, there will be no cap on the total donation from Subaru of America to its Share the Love charitable partners. By the end of this year's event, Subaru hopes to exceed a grand total of $90 million donated since the creation of Share the Love.

By purchasing or leasing a new Subaru during the Event and selecting Meals on Wheels America as your charity of choice, you can help deliver nutritious meals and other important services to seniors right here in Roane and Loudon Counties.
